Trying to use this as an external monitor for a macbook pro (via the hdmi connection) but cannot get it to work Dell has some lineups that are good quality, some areas of their support are good (enterprise/if you pay a ton), but their software is making the experience of using the machines kinda awful. Mac recognizes that it is plugged into an external display (i think) but the dell does not change from its own windows computer screen
I have tried playing with display. I was just tired of dell and also microsoft, both forcing you into modern standby, which never worked, doesnt work, and will not ever work reliable on windows, compared to 100% working and reliable s3 (suspend to ram) sleep. The 5000 seems a little better, but the truth is, dell hasn't made a truly good laptop since the 6430u, circa 2013
Every so often one or both of my external monitors will go blank They stay blank for 1 to 2 seconds, then come back on It can be an hour or more between or it can happen a few times in a row within the space of one minute. Dell said i need new motherboard as the password they gave didn't have the correct instructions of press ctrl +enter
I entered and pressed ctrl + enter once and it removed the bios password, unlocked it. Dell fucked up my pc last night (bit of an older model, 17r2) by pushing out an update for supportassist that made my pc freeze up and test the fans (left, then right) like it would in the real fan test Basically, they fucked up something they made Guess what was causing it
I run this as an application towards the end of the ts then reboot with mdt and run it again followed by another reboot before finishing up the whole ts Instead we utilize dell command update for general driver and system updates However, recently we've noticed that dell command update is installing something called dell supportassist os recovery plugin.
